My Shitty Website

12 03 2010

It isn’t long until the first assignment is due for networked media. My HTML is doing alright, but in my tute on Thursday I saw that some of the other students are doing a lot better then I am. Some of them have really good ideas for the assignment and their websites are looking really good.

It was a bit intimidating when we had to show our progress to the class cause at that point mine was a piece of shit. It made me sick to look at. No one seemed to care how bad mine was and anyone I asked for advice was happy to help. After that one lesson my HTML was already looking a lot better thanks to a few students who gave me some tips on how to improve it.

Soon I’ll finish it and then I won’t have to worry about this assignment any more, just the hundreds more to come. SIGH

My Assignment

5 03 2010

I’ve started my first assignment and I’m doing the one where I have to write a HTML. I’m going to make a webpage on the very serious issue of the cephalopods invasion. You know what a cephalopod is? It’s a squid, octopus, nautilus or cuttlefish. Some scientists have a theory that these slimly fuckers are going to be the next dominate species on Earth. NOT ON MY WATCH! Mankind’s only been around for 200,000 years, that’s just a warm up. Dinosaurs got a nice healthy run of 160 million years and those guys didn’t even have the internet, so I think we deserve a bit longer.

So I’m going to make this webpage that will provide people with the information they need to help in war against the cephalopods. We’re going to whip these bastards off the face of the Earth. That may seem a little radical, but its either them or us. A friend of mine told me cuttlefish are mild problem solvers and can teach. Yeah you read that right, they can teach. Shit’s gotten real.

I started writing the HTML for my webpage in my tute with that program word wrangler, but I need to download it on my computer so I can do this assignment at home. Is there a link on moodle so I can download word wrangler?

HTML

Shit got real this week when I learnt about HTML in the lecture for Networked Media. I sat there trying to follow along with all the talk on HTML and CSS and all the little details up until the point when I nearly passed out due to an overload on knowledge. This seems to happen to me with all my lectures, especially with a Brief History of Civilisation, where I often do pass out and I’m later found unconscious under a chair up the back of the lecture hall.

What worried me most was the fact that we have to create a website using this HTML stuff and its due in week 7. WEEK SEVEN! Like I said, shit’s getting real. But when I went to my tute on Thursday, I had ago at making a quick shitty little HTML and it turned out not to be so hard.

So now I’m not so worried about this assignment, well that’s a lie, I’m a little worried. Actually I’m freaking out. I can’t sleep, can’t eat. HTML’s gotten inside my head and is eating me alive! Or maybe I’m over reacting, it probably won’t be so hard.

Pez

Last year ruled. I spent the first half working at a small café making and drinking coffee, scoring free food and getting paid. Then for the second half of the year, three of my friends and I went to Southeast Asia. We backpacked through Vietnam, Cambodia, Loa and Thailand. We spent our days eating great food, seeing sights, making friends and getting pissed for real cheap.

I got back a few weeks into January and spent a while catching up with family and friends, and then University began. Last year I would tell people I was looking forward to going to uni but now that it’s finally here, my opinion has sort of changed. I’m sure it’ll still be awesome, but all I can think of at the moment is how the next three years are going to be plagued with a fuck-load of homework and I enjoying studying about as much as I would enjoy being sexually molested by a giant squid.

So I’m not the biggest fan of homework, but I suppose I’ve been doing it since primary school, so three more years probably won’t be so bad just a little bit pez.
